Founded in 2011, in Montreal, Quebec, Open North is Canada’s leading not-for-profit organization specialized in data governance, open government, data-driven citizen consultation, and open smart cities. Our mission is to drive research, capacity-building and network collaboration across and within sectors to advance the responsible and effective use of data & technology in order to achieve our vision of data and technology that empower transparent, accountable and inclusive communities. With a multidisciplinary team of 25 staff and expert advisors and an annual budget of $2M+, we work with all sectors and levels of government locally, nationally, and globally. Our multidisciplinary Applied Research Lab (ARL) and Advisory Service (AS) provide an integrated service offering to help our partners develop and implement data governance models, lead collaborative data sharing initiatives, develop strategic plans and operational roadmaps, and train communities on a range of open smart city topics (eg. open data, open procurement, digital inclusion, and ethical AI). As an established international leader, our research and practitioners networks and collaborations extend across the country and globally.
Open North seeks a highly motivated and ambitious Administration Manager to support the organization's Administrative needs, particularly in the areas of Human Resources and Accounting.
The Administration Manager will have an intuitive approach to meet the needs of the organization and contribute in a supportive and collaborative manner.
The Administration Manager will work closely with and report to the Director of Operations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Involved in the onboarding and offboarding of Open North staff
Assisting and supporting employees with benefits
Employee vacation management
Monthly benefit reporting to Director of Operations
Prepare basic monthly and quarterly accounting reports (GST/QST, Employee Expense Reports, Monthly VISA Report) using Excel
IT hardware and software procurement and distribution
IT software membership management
General support for a variety of projects (ie; translations, supplier invoice approval, ad hoc requests)
Board Meeting note-taking
The successful candidate must have the following skills and experience:
3-5 years experience in a similar role and size of organization
Ability to anticipate next steps and offer solutions and assistance
Excellent knowledge of GSuite and Microsoft products. Generally software savvy. ● Facility and ease working with numbers
Good presentation, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills ● Strong sense of initiative
Bilingual in French & English (mandatory requirement for the position)
